This MATLAB application models the performance of a non-isothermal Plug-Flow Reactor (PFR) operating under adiabatic conditions. Designed for reversible first-order kinetics (A⇌P), the tool solves coupled differential equations for mass and energy balances to predict reactor behavior.
Users can input custom kinetic and thermodynamic parameters, including heat of reaction (ΔHrxn), activation energy, and heat capacities. The interface dynamically plots the reactor's operating line directly against the thermodynamic equilibrium curve (calculated via the Van't Hoff equation). This visualization enables immediate analysis of temperature effects, conversion limits, and kinetic limits for both endothermic and exothermic reaction pathways.
