We have presented the code for three types of lowpass filtering in the frequency domain;
1. Ideal lowpass filter (ILPF) (Problem?)
2. Butterworth lowpass filter (BLPF)
3. Gaussian lowpass filter (GLPF)
You can clearly observe the problem of the ringing effect in the output of the low pass filter.
Reason for ringing effect;
Convolution of any image (consisting of groups of impulses of
different strengths) with the ripple shaped function results in the
ringing phenomenon.
