Teaching with MATLAB Overview
From the series: Online Teaching with MATLAB and Simulink
Learn about Teaching with MATLAB, a 90-minute, self-paced course that shows you how to engage students and scale your instruction with cloud-based tools from MathWorks. Topics covered in Teaching with MATLAB include creating interactive scripts, using MATLAB Drive™ to share content, helping students learn the basics of using MATLAB®, and creating and automatically grading MATLAB coding assignments with MATLAB Grader™. Because you’ll use the actual tools in the course, you’ll be able to immediately apply what you learn in your classroom, giving students the experience they need with software commonly used in research and industry.

Today, computation and problem solving skills are in demand in almost all fields of study. Teaching and learning these skills in MATLAB gives students experience they need with software commonly used in research and industry. MathWorks has developed multiple resources and tools to support you and your students, in and out of the classroom.
In this course, you will discover how these tools allow you to work seamlessly from anywhere and across multiple devices, easily collaborate and share that work with others, and provide students with an engaging self-directed learning experience. You'll start by creating an interactive learning exercise, where descriptive text and executable code are combined in a single document, allowing students to easily engage with and explore concepts and complete exercises. You'll do so using MathWorks cloud based tools, which allow you to access and work on your files from anywhere.
Next, you'll learn how to use the sharing options to collaboratively build your materials with others and, ultimately, distribute them to your students. In the past, you may have had to dedicate valuable classroom time to teach MATLAB. Today, students can self direct their own learning of MATLAB, going at their own pace, using online courses from MathWorks. You'll see how to use them to set a common baseline for a class, or to introduce topics ahead of time, allowing for more productive use of your face-to-face time.
As students complete assignments, you may find your time is spent answering their questions individually and grading their work. You can save time, by instead using automated assessment to grade student work instantly. By incorporating custom feedback on common mistakes, many student questions can be answered in real time.
You'll conclude this course learning how to create and organize your graded assignments online. You'll see what a typical student workflow looks like, and learn the process for designing effective problems of your own. The course topics have been organized into common themes you'll encounter as you step through a typical course design process.
Feel free to go through the topics at your own pace. You can return as often as you want. Let's get started.
