HOW TO "Determine the x and y magnitudes of the gradient at each pixel in each block, Gx and Gy.",i AM WWORKING ON FINGER PRINT RECOGNISATION AND HAVE DIVIDED THE IMAGED INTO BLOCKS ,NOW HAVE TO FIND GRADIENT,CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE......

Using the standard lower/upper-case notation is recommended. At first it is easier to read, at second upper-case characters mean shouting in the digital communication.

Mathworks seems to have used an extremely obscure name for that, as if to deliberately make it hard to find, but I have managed to track down the documentation; it is at http://www.mathworks.com/help/techdoc/ref/gradient.html
