Registration estimator app - "export as function", or "load image from workspace" not working. Ubuntu install R2021b.

Hopefully someone can help. I'm using version R2021b installed on Ubuntu 20.04. The registration estimator app opens fine and works, however I'm unable to either load images from the workspace, or more importantly, export as function. The dropdown menu opens, however the buttons do not become highlighted when I hover the mouse, and nothing happens when I click, except that the menu dissapears. These functions were working fine on my previous Matlab install (R2020). Is this something to do with using this version of Matlab on Linux?

I have the exact same problem on a different machine, which is running Linux Mint.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.
