Then it is time to make an effort. You don't learn by not doing. Do small problems, until you can tackle the larger ones. Solve big problems (a programming elephant) one small byte at a time.
I'm sorry, but there simply is nothing we can do for you. There is no way for us to stuff knowledge into your brain. This is entirely your task, and only you can learn the programming skills of your own that you will need.
Spend the time. Don't expect it to happen magically. Read your book. Talk to your instructor. And, next time, start SOONER!
I could point out that when I first learned to program (in Basic), I had a terrible time figuring out how to use a loop. You learn. You learn by doing.

Try this link: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/8026-best-way-s-to-master-matlab. Don't be discouraged. It's a lot similar to a lot of other programming languages that you probably know, like C and Java.
