I get this message when using a remote Linux server running MATLAB, which is (I think) related to Java, but I was not able to find a solution after searching the forum:
desktop is not supported because:
Swing is not currently available.
In file "/opt/MATLAB/R2012b/toolbox/matlab/general/desktop.m" (???), function "desktop" at line 20.
Some of my scripts work fine, but some of them produce this error. Any help is much appreciated.

Another thing is that even if I use `-nodesktop` flag before running my scripts, the error appears.
