Can seeded region growing segmentation technique be applied to binary images?

I'm new to matlab and I'm trying to segment the tumorous region from brain MRIs. I have already converted the image into binary image but I don't know how to apply seeded region growing approach to it. All help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.
