Hi,
is it possible to simulate cables in Sumlink with Velocity Factor depending of cable type and impendance, to get responses like in real life TDR meassurments?
For example I am using Megger handheld TDR, which is great, for meassuring on UTP Ethernet LAN cables and I want to have thet siumlated in Simulink?
Hope for understanding I am sending best regards,
Milan

Hi Milan,
It is possible to simulate cables with various factors like cable type, transmission delay, characteristic impedance, etc., in Simulink. Simulink provides various tools and blocks that enable you to model transmission lines and simulate their behavior, including the effects of velocity factor.
One approach to achieve this is by utilizing the "Transmission Line" block in Simulink. You can set the various parameters within the "Transmission Line" block to accurately model the cable. By incorporating the appropriate parameters, you can simulate the behavior of the cable in Simulink and obtain responses that resemble real-life Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) measurements.
For more details on the available parameters and how to model transmission lines in Simulink, you can refer to the following link:
I hope this information helps you in resolving the issue.
