Question about z scoring in matlab

Hi all,

I am trying to calculate standard scores for a sample that I am working with for research. I am working with a statistician for this, and he mentioned that the z-score function would not work because it assumed that the data points inside of the sample are independent when in fact that is wrong because they are taken from the same person over a time series.

Is this true? How would I get around this?

I would ask your statistician this question. I mean, if he knows enough to tell you that , then he should know the answer to "fix it", right?
