Speaker dependent speech recognition

I saw this link http://www.mathworks.in/company/newsletters/digest/2010/jan/word-recognition-system-matlab.html
and I got some doubts in it.
1) In the speech-detection algorithm what would you type in the "DO SOMETHING' part
% Do some analysis
...
<DO _ SOMETHING>
...
2)How would you find the MFCC from LPC coefficients.
