How to resolve PX4 Firmware build failure for Cube Orange board?

20 views (last 30 days)
The UAV Toolbox Support Package for PX4 Autopilots allows use of Cube Orange hardware. There are two known sporadic issues that user can face while trying to build the PX4 Firmware with Cube Orange CMake (cubepilot_cubeorange_default).
Issue 1: The error syndrome is "error: cant create".
Issue 2: Sporadic build failure with Cube Orange when the CMake configuration for some other boards are already built. The syndromes can differ. One of the possible syndromes is "FAILED: external/Stamp/px4io_firmware/px4io_firmware-build external/Build/px4io_firmware/cubepilot_io-v2_default.elf"

Below are the workarounds for the two issues
Solution to Issue 1:
If you are seeing the cube orange build failure with error message in Issue 1, note that this issue is coming because of the limitation of length of filenames in Windows. has more characters in the filename than the maximum allowed number of characters in Windows. You can work around this problem by reducing the path length of the PX4 firmware. To workaround the issue, Uninstall current Cygwin toolchain and install the Cygwin Toolchain to a shorter path such as C:/px4 instead of C:/px4_cygwin. Run hardware setup screens in MATLAB again with new Cygwin path.
Solution to Issue 2:
In the PX4 Firmware folder,
  1. Delete the full build folder for all the CMakes
  2. Run hardware setup screen in MATLAB for the UAV Toolbox Support Package for PX4 Autopilots with Cube Orange as hardware
