How do I get rid of the suggestions/help popup in the command window in Matlab 2014b?

This can sometimes be useful, but the vast majority of the time it is just an annoyance. The popup often is over the actual command line (so I can't see what I'm writing) or over previous commands/output. The image below shows the popup I'm talking about.

This feature is called "Function hints". You can turn it off on the Keyboard preference panel, as shown (circled) in the following picture. You can hit "Ctrl-F1" to pull up function hints only when you want them.

Is there a way to turn this off from the commandline? Or from a settings file somewhere?

This does not work in R2018a with Ubuntu. Is there anything else that can be done? That little popup window is very annoying!
