Keeping the Editor open even when no scripts are opened

2 views (last 30 days)
I often open and close scripts in the Editor, and sometimes it can happen that no scripts are opened at a given time. When this happens, Matlab 2013b just closes the Editor and expands the remaining panes (e.g. the Workspace). How can I have the Editor always stay open (and docked) even when no .m files are opened, i.e. just the blank (grey) Edit window? I found no options for this in the Preferences. Thanks!

Don't have a later than 2012b to test, but what happens if you first just open the editor without a file...will that stay open?
