Retrieving GPS data on W8 tablet

Will a built in GPS on a Windows 8 tablet (such a Lenovo Thinkpad 10) be easy to access from Matlab? I am planning to build an event recorder with a gui, and want to have gps coordinates for my events as well. I kind of know how to access the nmea strings from an external gps, but it would be more convenient to use a tablet with a built in gps. However, before I run ahead and buy a specific model I would like to be a bit sure that I can use the built in gps (most tablets do not seem to have a gps).
