Hello,
I wrote an mlapp with 2020b and edited it several times. On opening it with App Editor today, suddenly most callbacks and the startup function were gone. When I closed App Designer without saving, the app was broken.
Luckily I had a backup. I tried it with 2019b with the same result, my new copy was now also broken. Can I extract the code of an .mlapp without opening App Designer? Then I would recycle the code in a new file.
Or even better, can I fix the problem directly and manage to open the file in App Designer without destroying the code?
Best regards

See https://undocumentedmatlab.com/articles/appdesigner-mlapp-file-format for information about the internal structure of mlapp files.

I would suggest contacting support. They can likely help you recover the file. It would also be helpful for MathWorks to see how your file got corrupted so that they can hopefully apply fixes to prevent that going forward.
