- Validate the IBIS file: Ensure that the IBIS file (ibisfile_with_im_group.ibs) is valid and conforms to the IBIS specification. You can use an IBIS file validator tool or the IBIS Validator provided by the IBIS Open Forum to check for any syntax errors or invalid records in the file.
- Verify the BIRD 189 record: Check the BIRD 189 record in the IBIS file and ensure that it is correctly referencing the Interconnect Model name (im_name). Verify that the Interconnect Model Group keyword section in the IBIS file is correctly configured to reference the external sets.ims file.
- Check the Interconnect Model file: Ensure that the Interconnect Model file (im_name.s4p) referenced by the BIRD 189 record is present in the same folder as the IBIS file and the external sets.ims file. Verify that the file name and extension are correct.
- Confirm file paths and names: Double-check that the file paths and names are accurately specified in the IBIS file and the external sets.ims file. Ensure that there are no typos or discrepancies in the file names or paths
IBIS modeling, Interconnect Model: Library Error when validating schematic in SerialLinkDesigner

I imported an ibisfile_with_im_group.ibs file into my SerialLinkDesigner.
The ibis file references an Interconnect Model Set through an external sets.ims file, from the Interconnect Model Group keyword section.
No errors when importing the libraries into the project interface from SerialLinkDesigner.
Then, when invoking schematic validation in SerialLinkDesigner, I get this kind of error related to the Interconnect Model name (im_name):
**Error** "C:\projectFolder\si_lib\ibis\ibisfile_with_im_group.ibs im_name Resolve" is an invalid BIRD 189 record in IBIS file ibisfile_with_im_group.ibs
Both .ibs and .ims are in the same folder as well as the im_name.s4p referenced file modeling the Interconnect Model.
No sintax errors are flagged.
I would like to check with the Community whether anyone has already experienced this kind of issue and whether it can be a limitation at the SerialLinkDesigner to be solved?

Hi Matteo,
I understand you are getting an error when importing an IBIS file in SerialLinkDesigner. The error you're encountering suggests that there is an issue with the BIRD 189 record in the IBIS file (ibisfile_with_im_group.ibs) imported into SerialLinkDesigner. The BIRD 189 record is used to reference the Interconnect Model (IM) name, which is specified in the external sets.ims file.
You can follow the steps below to try troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
You can refer to the following page for more information on IBIS files:
I hope this helps!
