In a transmission model, the Torque converter (TC) is connected with a Variable Ratio Transmission (VRT). the VRT is assumed to be ideal with direct ratio input from user, without any vibration caused by this block. (see figure below)
If I want to integrate vibration into the VRT and see how the system (TC + VRT) response, what should I do?

Hi Quan,
I understand that you are trying to develop a transmission model with “Torque Converter” (TC) and “Variable Ratio Transmission” (VRT) blocks. Please follow the below steps, to introduce vibrations in the system,
  1. Understand the vibration that must be added and collect its frequency, phase shift and amplitude. Model the vibrations, using a sine wave block.
  2. “r” port of the “VRT” block represents input-to-output shaft velocity ratio. The vibrations can be introduced here. Add the sine wave block to the incoming signal of “r” port using an “add” block.
  3. The output of the “add” block must be sent to a “Simulink PS converter” block and then connected to the “r” port.
Using the following method, vibrations can be introduced in the “TC” + “VRT” system. For more information on the “VRT” block and for an example of “Variable ratio gear”, Please refer to the following documentation link:
I hope this helps!
Thank you,
Abhimenyu.
