Latex Font in MATLAB

Hi,
I am trying the below line to get the latex font which looks like sharp or angled v as below
However, MATLAB is giving error for this \varv
legend('$E_{\varv_{1}}$', 'Interpreter','latex')
result -
Warning: Error updating Legend.
String scalar or character vector must have valid interpreter syntax:
$E_{\varv _{1}}$

use an italic V in legend function

title('$E_{\nu_{1}}$', 'Interpreter','latex','FontSize',24)
