To transition MATLAB to the Campus-Wide license, we recommend installing the latest release of MATLAB with the MATLAB Individual license option to benefit from all the current improvements from both MATLAB and named user licensing.
Note: We also recommend uninstalling all older releases. For information on reinstalling MATLAB R2023a and older on your shared machines with the Campus-Wide license, please contact
MathWorks Installation Support.
If the newest release of MATLAB is already installed with a non-Campus-Wide License, with MATLAB Concurrent, or with MATLAB Designated Computer, there are two options to transition current MATLAB installations to MATLAB Individual on your Campus-Wide license:
- Reinstall the newest release of MATLAB (Recommended)
- Update the current license file to the license_info.xml file (R2023b and newer Only)
Reinstall the Newest Release of MATLAB
The most seamless way to transition MATLAB to MATLAB Individual is to reinstall the release with the MATLAB Individual license option. For MATLAB Individual, installation is the only process required on university machines for MATLAB access—no activations or license files required.
For uninstallation and installation instructions, please see the following documentation:
For greater convenience, you may use your system management software, such as SCCM, to mass deploy reinstallations with MATLAB Individual using the non-interactive uninstaller/installer:
Update the current license file to the license_info.xml file
To update MATLAB R2023b and newer to MATLAB Individual without reinstalling MATLAB, you will need to perform the following steps:
- Save the license_info.xml file attached to this article.
- Remove the old license file(s) from the MATLAB installation folder and replace it with the license_info.xml file:
