I'd like to be able to model the effect of commutator segments on my brushed DC motor dynamic response. Looking through
I don't see a Brushed DC motor model that includes commutator segments. Is there anything out there? Alternatively, any idea how I might incorporate these dynamics in my model?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Craig,
One way to include commutator segments in your model is to create a custom Simulink block that simulates the behavior of the commutator. This block would need to take into account the switching of the commutator segments and how it affects the motor's performance. By programming this custom block, you can accurately represent the commutation process in your simulation.
Another option is to utilize Matlab's scripting capabilities to create a custom function that models the commutation process. By integrating this function into your Simulink model, you can simulate the behavior of a Brushed DC motor with commutator segments more accurately.
Hope this answers your question.

I understand that Mathworks provides the tools to support a DIY commutator model. It sounds like no pre-existing commutator segment models exist. Oh well. Thanks for the quick rsponse.
