R2026a Home: Insert row into table using the Workspace Editor (arbitrary position)

Using the workspace editor, I can insert a row at an arbitrary position in an array by clicking the row header and selecting Insert Row Above or Below from the context menu or the ribbon.

Is there any way to do this for a table? The context menu doesn't appear and I can only delete rows via the ribbon.

Not (at least yet) supported and as far as I know there is no API to let one extend the existing menus.

Seems well worth sibmitting this to Mathworks as an official enhancement request at <Product Support Page>.

I've submitted many enhancement requests to TMW over the years from full-priced seats provided by my employer. Success rate: 0%

MathWorks is a behemoth and has a lot of enhancement requests as well as their own internal agenda so anything is bound to take time unless it were to happen to coincide with something already in progress. I've had a few "wished for's" show up over the years but I can't say specifically that it was my enhancement request that was the prime mover.

This one seems an obvious extension and I'd reckon there's at least a decent chance it is already on the internal radar as a lacking feature. However, any particular feature is more likely to make it into the grist mill hopper if it is user-requested. It's too bad there isn't a list for public voting upon.

Also, I wouldn't let the particular seat influence the decision of submitting the enhancement; the product is essentially the same, only the use restrictions differ.

I think you're right. TMW has gotten too big and given the threats to its business model, I don't know if they're going to adapt.

Meanwhile, TMW continues to say one thing but do others:

I commented on this one about the lack of semicolons in the "Show code" generator - very contra MATLAB style. A year later, it is still that way.

2) And then, plotbrowser/plottools disappears without warning. Even experienced users struggle with Property Inspector and how to distinguish between a solid arrow and a '>' in the small-font Inspector.

Upshot: Might be fixed sometime, might not be.

3) TMW provides barely minimal help to Home users. Took multiple calls last year to even buy a license. Then, they changed the licensing policy on Jan 1, 2026 with no notification. Found this out when I wondered where my annual maintenance got to. Turns out it wasn't sent because of the policy change.

There's more but this should suffice.

Thanks. Can't get maintenance anymore on Home Edition so I'm limited to R2026a. Debating whether or not to get the annual subscription for future releases.
