How to determine the number of source of original signals in ICA

Hi, folks,
I am doing some blind signal segmentation using ica on some biometrical data like ECG, or EEG. The problem is that I could not determine how to set the number of original signals in the ICA algorithm, is there some probing way to do it. Using fastica, or robustica package?
