Can I install two versions of Matlab simultaneously?
Show older comments
I had installed Matlab R2012b in my laptop and later I had to install R2010a.I have not uninstalled R2012b yet but now when I search for matlab in my laptop, only R2010a is visible.I cannot view the option to open R2012b. I searched online for a solution but could not find a solution. In the Installed program list I can still see R2012b as installed. Kindly let me know what is the problem.

What operating system are you running?
On my laptop (Windows 8.1), I have several versions available. Each has its own desktop icon, and I can run more than one at the same time if necessary.

OS-X and Linux do not keep an "Installed program list" so MS Windows of some sort is involved.

My last non-PC machine was an Apple ][. (I still have it!)
In Win 7, you can find R2012b by clicking the ‘Start’ button, look for it or search for it, and then right-click to send a shortcut to the desktop.
In Win 8+, open ‘File Explorer’ and search for MATLAB. The icon for R2012b will eventually show up. When you find it in the search results (depicted by its icon), right-click and then ‘Create Shortcut’ and either ‘Send to Desktop’ or simply copy-paste it to your desktop manually. Be sure to click on it as a desktop icon to be sure that it works, and launches R2012b.
That is how I would do it.
