How to compile cpp files to make mex files using visual c++ 2010 ?

I am using MATLAB 2012b and I have both visual c++ 2010 and sdk 7.1 installed. But I am not able to create mex files.I get the following error:Error: 'SFunc_Load_MsgTblC.cpp' not found.

Error using mex (line 206) Unable to complete successfully.

What command line are you giving to mex?

The file SFunc_Load_MsgTblC.cpp needs to be in the current directory.

command: mex SFunc_Load_MsgTblC.cpp

But where is the file? It needs to be in the current directory or mex will not find it and give you the error message. What do you get when you type the following:

dir SFunc_Load_MsgTblC.cpp
