ODE23 ODE45, how many iterations?

Does the parameter "trace" represent the number of iterations? If so, how can I count them? Thank you.

Which parameter "trace" is that? I do not see "trace" mentioned in the documentation for ode23 or ode45 or odeset (the routine to construct the options)
