Hi, I am using ubuntu 16.04 and I am trying to start matlab and have the graphical interface (desktop) load. When i type matlab from my bin directory it starts matlab in prompt mode. I have tried deleting my ~.matlab/R2016a preference folder and it didn't help.
thanks!

Hello Thomas,
Based on your description, it appears to be most likely a Java related issue. You can find the specific error information by inspecting the following log files.
~/matlab_crash_dump.XXX
~/java.log.XXX
~/hs_err_pid#.log
If you need help investigating the issue, you can contact the Installation & Licensing Support team using the following link, and send them the logs for inspection.

Hi,
Thanks for answering. Actually i found out the issue was related to Remote X on the client.
