MATLAB startup may be slowed if MATLAB is configured to check for a license server at a network address that cannot be reached. If you have borrowed a license and then left the network where the license was borrowed from, MATLAB startup may be delayed.

Storing license information in an environment variable may slow startup even further as MATLAB will check for a license at any network address stored in a MATLAB license environment variable. Moving your license information from the environment variable to a license file may alleviate the issue. Speak with your license administrator to obtain a network license file for your license.
