Absolute value of a 3-D complex vector

4 views (last 30 days)
Hi everybody, Could you please help? I have a vector H which has 3 components in 3-D: H_x, H_y, H_z which are all complex number. How could I calculate the absolute value of vector H. Thanks

Are we talking about spatial components? If so, I believe it's the sum of absolute values for 3 components. You can think of it this way.
|H|^2 = H*conj(H)
= (H_x *x* + H_y *y* + H_z *z*)*(conj(H_x) *x* + conj(H_y) *y* + conj(H_z) *z*)
= |H_x|^2+|H_y|^2+|H_z|^2
