do 2 concurrent instances of Matlab automatically use different CPU cores on Apple OS X?

1 view (last 30 days)
I have an Apple Mac Pro with 6 cores. I was able to launch 2 instances of Matlab from terminal. Do they automatically use 2 different cores (so that running them in parallel on a time-consuming task is faster than running them sequentially in one instance) or do they end up sharing the same core and thus not give any advantage of running simultaneously?
