[A,refmat,bbox] = geotiffread ('Filename')
What refmat and bbox actually are? The explanations there just state they are referencing matrix and bounding box. No idea what do they actually mean. Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks heaps.

You must be having a map data/raster data in your tiff file. This data should be having x -values/ longitude and y-values/latitude data. Bounding box gives you [min(x) min(y)] and [max(x) max(y)] . So, with these values, you can generate your grid and geo-reference it.
