How much control does matlab have over powerpoint?

I need to create several powerpoints and so I am looking into matlab automating the process. I have already looked into this and I have found you can create and add stuff to a presentation from matlab however how limited are matlabs capabilities can it for instance insert shapes or use any of the powerpoint features.
