Why MATLAB 2017 is so slow and easy to crash?

Could anyone tell me why MATLAB 2017 is so slow? I also lost my temper for many times and I really think its GUI design cannot meet my demand anymore. It runs code fairly quick, but when I use Simulink, it is horrible. Thanks

I know that MATLAB is struggling with compatibility with Linux, as there is a lot of fracturing of available shared libraries in the various mainstream releases. arch Linux appears to be especially affected.
