Is there a way to disable the contextual popup "Press Shift Enter to rename all $n instances of ..."
in the editor?
I'm using R2017b.

In the Editor/Debugger Language Preferences deselect "Enable automatic variable and function renaming".

I really liked this feature, but I recently downloaded matlab 2023a, and I can't find it anymore. I was using version 2020b until now. Do you know where to activate it now?

According to the documentation it should be present in the same place but only when MATLAB is selected in the Language dropdown. Scroll down to the "Editor/Debugger Language Preferences" section on that page I linked previously and note that it says "MATLAB Language only".
I have confirmed that it is present exactly where the documentation says it is in an installation of release R2023a.
