how to specify the polygon edges ?

Hello every one ,
I want to ask what Is the polygon edge ? which is requires here in the inputs parameter? https://ww2.mathworks.cn/matlabcentral/fileexchange/30819-fast-inpolygon-in-mex
what I have is the x and y coordinates vertices of the polygon and the x and y coordinates of the image grids how can I specify the polygon edge ? Thank you.
