I have the files with extensions .3dd,.pgm and .ascii and i want to load these files in matlab. Please help how can i do that.

I find this chart helpful. It lists the file types that core MATLAB can read/write and what functions to use.
As to your specific question, core MATLAB can read .ascii and .pgm.
I don't think .3dd is supported out of the box.

Thanks actually i have seen this before and it contain PGM but not ASCII

ascii can be read with any of the text readers --- click on the documentation of that function to find out more. Most do it out of the box, but load requires letting it know it is ascii and not a mat-file.

Which .3dd format? There are at least three of them. Are you referring to the one used for some mapping software ?

Yes actually i want to use a 3D laser scanner data to apply 3D SLAM(Simultaneous Localization & Mapping) technique.
So the sensor is giving me frames in ascii, pgm and 3dd extensions and i want to use these files in matlab
