Warning: Unable to save path to file '/usr/local/MATLAB/R2016b/toolbox/local/pathdef.m'. You can save your path to a different location by calling SAVEPATH with an input argument that specifies the full path. For MATLAB to use that path in future session, save the path to 'pathdef.m' in your MATLAB startup folder.

The warning looks clear. You need admin privileges to get write permissions for toolbox/local/pathdef.m, but you can store the filein your Matlab startup folder also - as the message has told you already. So either run Matlab as an admin, or follow the advice of saving the file in anotehr location.
