why nothing changes on my excel file when it is open

I am trying to send data from matlab to excel file, that works well when the file is closed ( mean on Microsoft Excel ), however when it's open there is no changes on the file ( data doesn't get sent to file)

MATLAB cannot access and write data into a file when it is already open in another application i.e. Microsoft Excel. You have to close it. For reading data from excel into MATLAB it doesn't matter even if file is open in Microsoft Excel.
