Note: Catalina has no support for NVIDIA graphics cards or GPUs (e.g., in eGPU enclosures.)
There is a corporate fight between Apple and NVIDIA and it is not at all clear that there ever will be NVIDIA support on Apple devices again.

I am unable to install Matlab2019b on MacOS Catalina.
It's complaing that it needs premission to open some files, but even allowing on the security app doesn't help.
Thank you,
Guy

MATLAB R2019a does not support MacOS Catalina. Please upgrade to R2019b.

I tried it at the first run but it doesn't work on Mac OS Cataina (Beta).
After some serach, I opened it using terminal with the following command and it works perfecty:
/Applications/MATLAB_R2019a.app/bin/matlab -nosplash
PS: you need to keep the terminal working when you use it.

no, just add & at the end of the command line and you will be able to close it.

I am using Catalina 10.15.2 and Matlab R2019b. I was having the crash ever time I zoom on a graph in Simulink. I use an app called "BetterSnapTool" for moving and positioning windows. As soon as I turned that program off, problems solved, I can zoom in and out with impunity and no more crashes.

Thank you for the hint!
I am on Catalina 10.15.4 and Matlab R2020a and had a similiar problem. I use the app "Magnet" which does essentially the same as "BetterSnapTool". Turning it off also solved the problem for me.

I haven't tried it, although the link given below doesn't explicitly specify it's compatibility with Catalina.

In my case, I couldn't run MATLAB 2018a and MATLAB 2019a on macOS Cataina beta 5 build 19A526h.
I used a Parallels Desktop VM (macOS Catalina beta 5) on the host iMac (macOS Mojave 10.14.6).
When I run the MATLAB on the VM, I received the crash report (segmentation violation) from MATLAB.
[Host]
- machine: iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017
- OS: macOS Mojave 10.14.6
- Xcode: Xcode 10.3
[VM]
- machine: 2-Core CPU, 8GB Memory, 512MB Graphic Memory, 128GB Storage
- OS: macOS Cataina beta 5 build 19A526h
- Xcode: Xcode 11 beta 5
