I've been using this forum for decades, but suddenly there's been an "upgrade" to the interface, so that I can no longer cut and paste. I use linux tools like vi.
Is there any way workaround for this? Cutting and pasting seems like a rather basic functionality to provide, supported by every other forum on the planet.
Best outcome for me would be to return to the old user interface. Is there a way to do this

No, I can't cut and paste from vi into either the main window or these comments. I can do it from gedit, but really would like to be able to continue to use vi.
I'm never had a problem of this kind with any other forum.

On Mac, I do not have any trouble copying from vi to here.
Your reference to gedit suggests to me that you are using one of the Linux ?

That is correct, using vim on ubuntu 18.04

I also use vi (it's actually vim on my distro, not vanilla vi) and I noticed copy and paste issues in places. I found a number of solutions by googling "vim copy and paste not working" -- there are some vim config items that change how the clipboard works. It seems that there are minor differences between platforms as to what the settings should be, but hopefully this gets you going in the right direction.
