To add another box to the left, is the code:
subplot(3, 2, [1 3])
%draw for A
subplot(3, 2, 2)
%draw for B
subplot(3, 2, 4)
%draw for C

subplots are numbered along the rows. The first argument to subplot is the number of rows; the second is the number of columns; the third is which of them to select. If you wanted to add another box to the left, that would be another column, not another row. If the effect you were trying for was that the plot for A was twice as high and twice as wide as the other two, then
%{
1 | 2 | 3
---------
4 | 5 | 6
%}
subplot(2, 3, [1 2 4 5]) %2 x 2 to the left
%draw for A
subplot(2, 3, 3) %1 x 1 top right
%draw for B
subplot(2, 3, 6) %1 x 1 bottom right
