How long can "post installation tasks" last?

The whole installation and downloading went smoothly but as soon as it gets to "post installation tasks" it just get stuck on them (tried twice - once gave up after 24h, currently left it overnight and it's still going). I'm using MacOs Catalina 10.15.3 and its the 2020a release (no such option in the release window).

I am having the same issue. I am using Mojave 10.14.6 though. I went through the procedure twice with no luck. I am hoping someone else here could advise.
Had the same problem and for me it was actually finished. Just go in on launchpad and you will have the program there.
I have the same trouble too. Post installation tasks never finishes.

@Eric Miller - then try some of the ideas suggested, shut down anti-virus softeware temporarily, etc. Or contact support.
I did all of those things. No luck. Support contacted. Time to learn python.

Im running matlab on macOS Catalina 10.15.7. Mine was running around 4-5 hours with no progress. I just closed the window and opened the app. Its working fine until now.

For me the solution was to close all anti-virus software (McAffee) and OneDrive. Wait a bit. Then it reaches 100%.
For me the isntallation was already finished. (I simply opened Matlab via the launchpad and did the activation.) I closed the installation guide.
Matlab Version: 2020b
OS: macOS Monterey 12.4

Hi Anita,
It is my understanding that your installation hangs at "post-installation tasks" and does not complete.
Please refer to the workarounds suggested in the following MATLAB Answers, which address the same issue:
I hope this helps.
