how to do tamil character recognition

if anybody has worked on tamil character recognition please could somebody help me with its code....

sir what i need is i want to save all the tamil characters... and when i give one tamil character as input it must check with the tamil charcters saved... and display it... this is what i want... but i dont know how i will save the tamil characters... i have done english character recognition and it works... the code i used for english character is

is it possible to do tamil characters the same way... or is it different... please do reply....

It does look as if the characters are separated enough to use similar techniques as would be used for Latin (English) characters, except they would have to be taken further to decode all of the 18 vowel modifiers.
