Finding the max of certain columns

I have a 4x7 matrix and i am trying to find the max of the 2nd 3rd and 4th column to create a 1x3 matrix how would i do that?

M % 4x7 matrix
x = max(M(:,[2 3 4])); % 1x3 vector of max values
