Timeline Generation from a table or excel file generated by MATLAB

I would like to be able to use the data that is contained in both a table and an output Excel File. The timeline needs to be able to draw lines, boxes and put label on them. Is it possible to do in MATAB? Here is an example of what I would like to build:
