how to detect text in image using matlab

Is there a way to detect english text in image using matlab? Also I need to know the regions of the text detected so I can calculate the area of this region for each image I have.

Actually You can use the OCR functions such as examples in mathworks website and you can learn a lot of informations using a function of OCR .
