IMU displacement/position using the accelerometer

Hello everyone,
I'm working with an IMU (LSM6DSO). I already implement an algorithm in order to know the orientation of the IMU in terms of Euler's Angles. Now, I want to know the position of the IMY in the space, i.e. its displacement using the accelerometer data. Several researchers says that I can compute it with a doble integral, mathematically has sense but it is not the reality because I'm using the data in real time using a microcontroller.
My question is, is it possible to know the displacement of the IMU using the accelerometer? without the doble integral method and the methods proposed by x-io tech?
Greetings.
P. S. This is not my home work.
