Matlab 2013a on Linux with gfortran

Hi,

in the matlab documentation it says one can link matlab with gfortran with version 4.3.x

Now that is a rather old version, does anyone know if it work under gfortran 4.8? Anything particular to consider if I want to use gfortran 4.8 and matlab with mex?

even though there is no official support for intel fortran compiler 2013 on matlab 2013a, I was wondering if there is any way to get that to work. Thank you.
