avoid sharing a videoobject / improve performance

Hi,
in my GUI I implemented a videoobject with: handles.vid = videoinput('winvideo', 1, 'RGB24_320x240');
Now the performance seems to be a bit more slower everytime I use guidata(hObject, handles) or when I share data with other GUI's. Because of the second point I realy get annoyed because I don't need the videoobject in my others GUIs, just single snapshots and handles to sliders, buttons and textfields.
How could I improve?

You are not required to store information in the handles structure. See alternatives
