how to find the gradient(1st derivative) of 3D (XYZ) data

8 views (last 30 days)
Hi all,
I have X,Y and Z 3D surface data and I want to compute the gradient of the surface. The problem is that my data is not in grid/mesh format (i.e.my data is Mx3, not MxN) . Can anyone suggest a way to compute the gradient of this type of 3D data ?
thanks

It might be the anser for anyone who found this question.
I just work with that kind of data with I using partial derivative and total derivative for soving this problem.
